ワルシャワ (Warszawa) はポーランドの首都。

概要


1596年にクラクフから遷都して以来、ポーランドの首都として発展を遂げてきた。
第二次世界大戦末期、ドイツ軍の爆撃によって街は灰燼に帰したが、大戦終了後、旧市街の街並みは焼け残った図面や写真、人々の記憶などをたよりに「壁のひびに至るまで」できるかぎり忠実に復元された。

飛行機で


オケンチェ国際空港（通称フレデリック・ショパン空港）が玄関口となる。空港からは、タクシーや路線バスを使って市の中心部まで行くことができる。

列車で

ワルシャワ中央駅が玄関口となる。なお、ワルシャワ中央駅にはツーリストインフォメーションがあり、ホテルの予約などを行っている（英語による対応可）。

車で

市内の移動はバス、トラム、タクシーなどが便利。
公共交通機関共通の24時間パス(Bilet Dobowy)を買っておくと移動に便利。ワルシャワ中央駅ツーリストインフォメーション横のキオスクなどで売られている（ただし、扱っているキオスクを見つけるのは結構大変なので、見つけたとき必要な日数分を買ってしまうとよい）。1枚7.2zl。一番初めに使うとき車内にある改札機に券を通すと、使用開始時刻と有効期限（24時間後の日付）が裏面に印字され、その間有効になる。次回以降は改札機を通す必要はない。

気を付ける


冷涼な気候であり、ワルシャワの9月が東京の11月くらいに相当する。雨が降るとさらに気温が下がったりするので、夏の旅行でも荷物の中に薄手のセーターやウィンドブレーカーのような防寒衣を入れていった方がよい。
